Sources of moisture

The damage of products from damp accompanies the whole process from production to sales. Some products have high water content or moisture absorption capacity. Some products are damp due to the production process. Due to irregular loading operations, the product may also be damp. During the transportation of cargos, the products will also get damp due to the violent temperature fluctuations. Failure to properly store the cargos will also cause the goods to become damp. Due to the above reasons, many companies regard product moisture resistance as a very important part of their supply chain.

During the transportation of the goods, the temperature inside the container will rise and fall between day and night, meanwhile the relative humidity inside the container will also fluctuate, eventually leading to two basic water vapor condensation: “container rain” and “cargo sweat”.

Moisture damage prevention

Common moisture damage solutions include: container waterproof film, cargo stretch film, surface treatment, VCI technology, mold inhibitors, vapor Barrier Packing,shrink wrapping, etc. These solutions can reduce product damage caused by moisture, but cannot fundamentally prevent moisture. And they are not environmentally friendly. Adopting the moisture-proof solution recommended by “SORB-PLUS” can fundamentally eliminate the risk of goods being damp, safe and environmentally friendly.

How to prevent container condensation and rainy container?

1. Check whether the container is sealed and dry before packing;
2. Confirm whether the goods and the loading environment are dry;
3. Strengthen the waterproof packaging of goods;
4. Place desiccant reasonably in the box;

What is the moisture absorption of your container desiccant?

SORB-PLUS container desiccant is composed of calcium chloride and starch, which efficiently reduce the relative humidity inside the sealed bag, box, container. Its absorption capacity is up to more than 300% at RH 90%, equaling to 6-10 times of normal desiccants.

Is your desiccant REACH Compliant?

How to use or fix your desiccant inside container?

1.Check and analysis the container condition
2.Seal all vents in the container
3.Choose the right type and amount of desiccants to be hanged/stuck on the top/side wall of the container/other packages.
4.Store the unused desiccant at clean and dry storage place.
5.Dispose the used desiccants as regular wasted when unloading the container.

What is the amount of desiccant you recommend to use inside container?

Generally, 4-6 kg of desiccants(CaCl based) to be used inside 20ft container, while 10-12 kg for 40ft container, 12-14 kg for 40HQ. If you need specific recommend usage, please contact our sales engineer.

How to keep and store desiccant?

Store desiccant products in a cool and dry place. It is fireproof, anti-theft, moisture-proof and waterproof.
