Common moisture damage solutions include: container waterproof film, cargo stretch film, surface treatment, VCI technology, mold inhibitors, vapor Barrier Packing,shrink wrapping, etc. These solutions can reduce product damage caused by moisture, but cannot fundamentally prevent moisture. And they are not environmentally friendly. Adopting the moisture-proof solution recommended by “SORB-PLUS” can fundamentally eliminate the risk of goods being damp, safe and environmentally friendly.

1. Container waterproof film

Moisture from the floor of the container and the outside of the container can be blocked by the container waterproof film. It has a barrier effect on the liquid water condensed on the top of the container (“Container rain“), but it cannot block the gaseous water molecules in the air, because the container waterproof film has air permeability and water permeability. And it is totally unable to cope with the moisture released by the cargo itself inside the container waterproof film(“Cargo sweat”). Therefore, this solution is not a safe solution to prevent moisture damage.

2. Cargo stretch film

Cargo stretch film can reduce the damage caused by “container rain” to the cargo, but it cannot block the gaseous water molecules in the air, because the cargo stretch film is breathable and water permeable. It cannot cope with “cargo sweat”. Since the cargo stretch film seals the cargo, once the excess moisture is released from the cargo, the tightly sealed environment will accelerate the damage of the cargo.

3. Surface treatment

Surface treatment is usually used to prevent moisture damage to metal products. Common surface treatment methods include: powder coated, spray painted, nickel-plated, chrome-plated, tin-plated, electro-coating, etc. This solution is expensive. There is also a way of oiling, and the oil is removed after the goods arrive at the destination, which has a negative impact on the environment and the cost is also expensive.

4. VCI technology

VCI film is an anti-rust product made of polymer materials combined with VCI technology, used for anti-rust of metal products. After the film is used to package and seal the anti-rust articles, the VCI contained in the film begins to sublime, volatilizes the anti-rust gas factor, diffuses and penetrates to the surface of the anti-rust article and adsorbs on it, forming a dense protective film layer of monomolecular thickness. Isolate various factors that induce rust from contact with the surface of the rusted object, thereby effectively preventing rust. Metal products usually need to be sealed in VCI plastic packaging. This method usually takes a long time, is expensive, and is not environmentally friendly.

5. Mold inhibitors

The mold inhibitors can only prevent the product from growing mildew, but not the product from being damp. After the product is damp, besides the mildew, other moisture damages may occur, such as discoloration, rusting of accessories, and deformation of packaging. 6. Vapor barrier packing

Electronic products or components with extremely sensitive metal surfaces usually use “vapor barrier packing” to prevent moisture damage. Smaller products generally use polyethylene-foil as barrier packaging materials, and larger products generally use scrim-foil-nylon as barrier packaging materials. Put some desiccant and humidity indicator card in the “vapor barrier packing”, and vacuumize after sealing, In this way, the humidity in the packaging can be reduced to a very low level. However, due to the use of a large amount of polyethylene-foil and scrim-foil-nylon, it is not environmentally friendly and expensive. This solution generally applies to the transportation of some high-value items.
