1. Moisture from the cargo itself

1)Some products have high water content, such as rice, soybeans, wheat and other agricultural products, whose water content is more than 10%. There are relevant standards for the storage and transportation of such products both domestically and internationally.

Usually as follows:

  • Rice <14.5%
  • Soybean <13%
  • Wheat <12.5%

In the process of storage and transportation of such products, slight negligence may cause them to exceed the safe water content, resulting in pests and molds.

2)Some products have strong moisture absorption capacity, such as wood products, paper products, sponge products, etc., Once the temperature fluctuates sharply, they will release the water absorbed by themselves, which will cause the products and accessories to be damaged by moisture.

3)Some products are packaged in corrugated cartons. If the moisture content of the corrugated cartons is too high, Once the temperature fluctuates sharply, the cartons will release the water absorbed by themselves, causing the product to be damaged by moisture.

2. Increased moisture during production

1)In the production process of some products, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and other equipment are not used in the workshop to control the relative humidity, resulting in excessively high water content in the produced products.

2)Some products need to use water-related processes in the production process, such as clothing products. Most clothing needs to be ironed before folding and packaging. Ironing adds excess water to the clothing and increases the risk of damp and mold.

3. Increased moisture in cargo loading

Goods are usually transported in containers. During the cargo loading process, the following aspects may increase the moisture content in the container.

  • Weather conditions during loading
  • Moisture content of container floor
  • Moisture content of wooden pallets
  • Is the container sealed ?
  • Whether to place desiccant ?

4. Increased moisture during transportation

Export cargo transportation generally adopts air transportation and shipping, and shipping costs are much lower than air transportation, so shipping has become the most popular mode of transportation. In the shipping process, the following aspects can increase the water content in the container.

  • The temperature difference on the transportation route
  • Season during transportation
  • How long is the shipping time

5. Increased moisture during storage

Most of the goods should be stored in a dry and ventilated place, but some companies use the basement as a warehouse, or do not install ventilation equipment, or do not use desiccants or dryers, which may cause the goods to become damp.

6. The sources of moisture in the product sales process

The sources of moisture in the product sales process include insufficient storage environment and moisture-proof measures, as follows:

  • Sales display environment is humid
  • Package water permeability is too high
  • Unsealed packaging
  • No desiccant is placed in the package
