Moisture damage solution optimization

Immediately after the previous article, we will continue to take the electrical industry customers in the previous article as an example to describe our service process.

According to the data recorded by humidity and temperature logger, we will optimize the solution to achieve the goal of allowing customers to spend the least money while ensuring that the solution is effective.

Information feedback

After the cargos arrived in Mexico by ship, the customer carried out inspections as required and recorded relevant data to feed back to us. The specific data are as follows:

1. Time of arrival of the cargos

The delivery time of the cargos is 11 am on May 13, 2019, and the arrival time of the cargos is 4:30 pm on July 9, 2019. The shipping schedule is nearly two months.

2. Ambient temperature and humidity when unloading the container

The ambient temperature during unloading is 26°C and the relative humidity is 59%.

3.The total weight increase of all desiccants in each container

  • TCKU620183(1):The weight before departure is about 16KG, the weight at the destination is 25.623kg, and the weight gain is 9.623kg.
  • TCKU618028(2):The weight before departure is about 16.4KG, the weight at the destination is 26.748kg, and the weight gain is 10.348kg.
  • TCKU605387(3):The weight before departure is about 16KG, the weight at the destination is 40.835kg, and the weight gain is 24.835kg.

Data analysis

Through the shipping tracking data of three containers, we analyze as follows:

  • According to customer feedback, the cargos in the three containers have not been damaged by moisture, indicating that the three moisture-proof solutions are effective.
  • The shipping period of the cargo is two months, and the effective period of our desiccant is 3 months, which fully meets the needs of customers.
  • According to the data of container three, the desiccant gains more weight without blocking the container vents, indicating that more moisture has entered the container. In addition, according to the “Temperature and RH tracking data” of Container 3, it can be seen that the humidity fluctuates more frequently and severely without blocking the container vents.
  • When the container vent is blocked, the desiccant only gains about 11KG in weight, which means that the amount of desiccant can be reduced and the cost is saved.
  • Comparing the “Temperature and RH tracking data” chart of the three containers, we can see that the average humidity of the three containers is controlled below 70%, respectively: 53.621%, 60.577%, and 60.431%. However, the amplitude and frequency of temperature and humidity fluctuations in the second container are the smallest, so the second option is the best choice.

Moisture damage solution optimization

Based on the conclusions drawn from the above analysis, we can optimize the customer’s solution.

  • The vents of the container must be blocked.
  • The minimum dosage of desiccant is 11KG, and the insurance dosage is 14KG. That is, 11KG is used from June to October, and 14KG is used from November to May of the following year.
  •  The usage of the desiccant is as follows: hang 4 “CODC-91-14” on the top of the container, and spread 3 “CODC-91-20C2” on the cargo carton. When cargo is shipped from November to May of the following year, two more “CODC-91-14” will be added to the top of the container.
  • There is no need to put a small calcium chloride desiccant bag in the product packaging carton.
