1. Humid storage environment

A humid storage environment will increase the moisture content of the cargo packaging cartons. It is recommended to store the cargo in a dry and ventilated warehouse, and place dehumidification equipment in the warehouse.

2. Moisture content of the packaging box is too high.

By improving the storage environment, the moisture content of the packaging cartons can be reduced as much as possible, but it cannot be reduced to the ideal level. The help of desiccant is still needed during the transportation of cargos.

3. Moisture content of the container wood floor is too high.

The container used by the customer has a wood floor moisture content of 37.6%, which far exceeds the safety standard. It is recommended that the container be exposed to the sun and the wood floor moisture content should be controlled under 15% before loading.

4. Desiccant hanging on both sides is completely suppressed by the cargo

If the cargo placement array cannot be changed, it is recommended to place desiccant on the top of the cargo instead of on both sides of the container.

Solutions for shipping

In the article “Simulation test“, we obtained the weight of the water that the customer’s product and product packaging can release during transportation through a simulation test. Based on this data, our “Solution Seminar” gives the dosage plan of desiccant.

 

Product: A single product can release about 60g of water.

The customer told us that the refrigerator itself is not prone to rust and electronic device failure in high humidity environments. Even if each product can release 60g of water, it will not cause trouble. Therefore, we suggest to customers that there is no need to put desiccant in the refrigerator packaging carton, or only three small packets of 10g desiccant. The focus is to solve the problem of soaking the outside of the packaging carton, that is, to solve the “container rain“.

Product packaging carton: A single product packaging carton can release about 90g of water.

According to the data provided by the customer, each container can hold 176 products. Calculated according to the weight of 90g of water released from each cargo packaging carton, a total of 15.84kg of water can be released. Although the moisture absorption rate of calcium chloride desiccant can reach 300% in a high temperature and high humidity environment, it is difficult to reach this theoretical value in an actual environment. Moreover, the container cannot be completely sealed, and there will be a steady stream of moisture entering the container during transportation. Therefore, our “Solution Workshop” recommends a desiccant weight ratio of 1:1 instead of 1:1/3 of the released water weight, that is, a total of 15.84kg of calcium chloride desiccant will be used.

In addition, the premise of using the above recommended dosage is to first ensure that the moisture content of the container wooden floor is ≤15%. If the moisture content of the container wooden floor is >15%, each additional 1.5% of the moisture content corresponds to an increase in the amount of 1KG calcium chloride desiccant.
